    A domestic helper having been employed under a continuous contract for not less than three months is entitled to Statutory Holidays .

    A foreign domestic helper, irrespective of his/her length of service, can enjoy the following Statutory Holidays :

  3. Can an employer request his maid to work on a Statutory Holiday ?
    • If a domestic helper is required to work on a Statutory Holiday, 48 hours' prior notice must be given. His employer must also arrange an alternative holiday within 60 days before or after the Statutory Holiday.

    • An employer who fails to grant Statutory Holidays, alternative holidays or substituted holidays, or fails to pay holiday pay to his maid is liable to prosecution.

  4. Can an employer substitute a Statutory Holiday with a Holiday Pay ?
    An employer is restricted by law to make any form of payment to his maid in exchange for her Statutory Holiday.
